Quite simply belly dance has changed my life.   My belly dance experience started about six years ago:  actually it just popped into my head that belly dance would be a great addition to my exercise regime.  I hadn’t really seen much of  the dance but something inside me was drawn   to the movement and the sensual , seemingly effortless nature of the dance.

I embarked on the ride of my life, and have since studied with many different instructors both locally and  across  the US, learning much about the physiological aspects (how the body moves) as well as the freedom of self expression that belly dance encourages.  Perpetually the student, I am always on the lookout for methods to improve my ability and those I teach.

As I’ve said so often to my work-out clients and other friends…The one thing that must remain constant is change,  and now it the best time to begin that change.  This is how I dance and how I try to live my life.

 Holly (Atia Farrah)
(meaning Lover of Dance)

  • Belly Dancing 4-5 years
  • Significant Training in Tae Kwon Do
  • 2nd Degree Black Belt

I was a martial arts instructor for ages four  years and up.  I placed second in the Invitational World’s 50th Anniversary tournament in 2005,   have traveled all over the world competing and serving as a tournament judge.  I was a member of the demo team and exhibited all forms and weapons.  Martial arts has imbued me with a sense of discipline and appreciation for the   grace of each form.

I have been a belly dancer for around five years; it took about a year to transform my body and mind to those of a graceful belly dancer. In short, I went from brute to beautiful.  The Love for dance frees me and gives me a way to connect the dance to others -- in my unique way.  I can show my inner soul and share my gift with both myself and the audience. Each choreography I learn comes to life in my soul as I perform.I have attended classes and seminars in the southeast region to expand my knowledge of the dance and learn the techniques that lie at the heart and soul of the dancer. I enjoy dancing with the sword and fan veils.

I have a fantastic experience every time I dance… It is an honor and privilege to share my dance experience with others.  I enjoy the interaction between dancer and the audience.  My years of martial arts training have instilled in me patience, flexibility and the dedication to learn this graceful art form.   Belly dance has become my creative outlet.
